Greetings all, New to VFR world, but love it as a resource. Here's a question, how many different VFR800 models are there? I've seen VFR800C's, VFR800CA's, VFR800FI's, VFR800F's... is there anywhere I can catch up on all the different models and identify what I have? Thanks, ~ Monty
Hello and welcome to the forum Romeo! Nice pic of you and that chick on the CBR....hahaha To answer your question, the only two models that I knew about which were sold in the US were the California model (the one I have), and 49 state model. If you have the charcoal canister in front of your bike, you have the cali model. Probably the only difference with the ones sold in Canada, Europe and elsewhere, is that they have the speed-O in KPH, maybe some different emissions (like charcoal canister) along with some different logos/stickers sometimes. I maybe wrong, but that is the major difference as far as I know. As you know, after '99, the VFR800 got rid of the choke(fast idle) and got the WAX unit to automatically enrich the mixture for cold starts (auto choke) just as modern cars do.
Welcome to the group. Thanks for joining. My understanding of the designations is that before the 6th gen, the VFR800 had the FI designation, and probably had a VFR800FIC or CFI for the Cali model (just guessing here). With the implementation of ABS, non-Cali models became VFR800 (non-ABS), VFR800A (ABS), VFR800C (non-ABS Cali) and VFR800CA (Cali ABS). Again, using my own twisted logic to puzzle it out. I am sure someone will set me right if needed.
