Hi guys my first post and I'm on my first VFR bought it 2 days ago after having a 600 bandit and wow what a difference, the one I bought needs a few things tho first thing being a set of grab rails, I can't seem to find any that arnt over £100 each. Is this just the normal price or is there a site where there cheaper? Thanks in advance .
Hi Gaff and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome: When you get time please visit the "Introductions" part of the forum to say Hi to the rest of the folks on here and maybe add a photo of your VFR - the folks on here really do like photos - (click the "insert Image" icon and follow prompts to select and upload an image from your computer) and it saves folks raggin on you. You can also update your forum profile (Forum Actions + Edit Profile) to include the specs of your motorbike and an approximate location County/City is fine. That way the information will appear automatically alongside your posts and if you really need help you may find someone living nearby is willing to swing by and offer advice - especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge. :focus: As you have posted in the 5th gen section I am assuming you have a pre vtec 800 VFR. Unfortunately it was not long before vtecs replaced that model so as you have found new parts are increasingly thin on the ground and even used stuff is rare. If you have tried the usual suspects eBay/Gumtree for cheaper options then bide your time. Parts do come up so maybe log on a specific part search request with a few online motorbike breakers. Good luck with the hunt and take care. :vtr2::vtr2::vtr2::vtr2: SkiMad
Sorry bud, thought as I posted in the 5th gen it would be enough, my apologies it's a 98, I haven't had time to get photos yet with only picking her up Friday and didn't really want to take any in her current state but I will get a few up later at work. Hi Skimad, thanks for that ive tried a few breakers but with it being bank holiday and me being impatient lol I'm trying every corner of the Internet.
No excuse. If you had a new born kid to show off you woukd post pix immediately! Your VFR shoukd get the same priorities. Welcome.
Source oot the OEM part # for your bike from Honda. Then see if the part # corresponds with bikes of a different year. Pix are not mandatory. They were in the past. What was discovered was that some of the dudes asking for pix were next asking for nude photos of members here.
David Silver have new OEM on their site although they're about £70 per side. They often crop up on fleabay. If you a breaker advertising other VFR parts it's worth giving them a ring to see what else they may have. have a look at these sites generally: https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/VFR800FIX-1999/ http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/honda/vfr_800_fi-w_fi-x/98-99/ http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/ http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_motorcycle_parts_block_selection_M30.php?mod_01=5923 David Silver and Wemoto are great for spares and you'd be surprised at what they stock; bikers oracle is more UK VFR focused (nothing wrong with this forum though let me say!!), and Lings have the full parts list on fiches which will give you an idea of the retail cost from a Honda dealer. The part numbers are not Honda part numbers, but will change to them when added to basket. Don't forget your local Honda dealer. A lot of the parts you may need to keep your bike going are not as pricey as you might have thought. Fleabay is great for the more expensive spares though and I've had loads from there over the years. Post some pics eh?
