Well, these are good deals from what I have seen so far. They are from Amazon.com. I know some might have gotten cheaper in rare circumstances or by knowing someone, but $643.87 for a $900-1000+ item is not too shabby. Thegpsstore has it listed for $750.00 on sale.

    ZUMO 550

The 450 goes for $529.00. The gpsstore lists it for $550 on sale. Amazon has some good deals at times. I just bought another Garmin hiking GPS today. Saved $70-120 over most other places on a $350 unit.

    Jason,

There are deals out there. I seem to remember I bought mine for around $675. Do a best price search in Google. There are also issues if you plan to use the audio functions. Finding the right combination of earphones and microphones is harder that I though. Check the functions between the 550 and the 450. You may want the 450 if you don't need the blue tooth, street name announcements and XM link. I bought the 550, but don't use any of those functions, primarily do to the fact I couldn't find any earphones that worked worth a damn at highway speeds. I wouldn't use the XM feature anyway, and riding my motorcycle is one way to get away from the cell phone.

The music is another thing. I like to idea of music, and I found ear pieces that work like the ear plugs you rub between your fingers and they conform to your ear canal. They block enough ambient wind noise that you can listen to music without it blearing, and still hear traffic sounds. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything with a microphone capability. If there is a lot of traffic you're concerned about just turn the music down and they work like earplugs.

I like the 550 and use it when cruising. I'll go get myself lost and when I'm ready to go home I just dial it up in the GPS. The GPS commands cause the music to attenuate so you can hear them.

I guess this is why you were asking about music. The 550, even with the expansion card I have (I think it was 1 G) only holds about 2 albums worth of music.

Thanks for the tips VF, though I am not really in the market to buy one. I just figured that I would pass this onto others because it was the best deal that I have seen so far. I know many people who have paid 800-900+ on theirs, so trying to save a brother a few bucks....not this poor brother you are talking to who can barely afford to wipe his arse! hahaha

On the issue of music, I was just curious of what others do when they ride. I like to hear other opinions and it gives us all something to write about!

So far, $643 with no shipping charge.
As anyone seen a better deal?

Bought a 450 on Amazon for $400. Looks like it was a short-term deal, it's up $30 since then.

Throw a 4 or 8 gig SD card in if you wanna pack a lot of music on. They're dirt cheap now.

    Zumo's rock!!!
