What kind of work do you need? I can help you with all the maintenance but to rebuilt the Engine then you need to call Toe

+1 to what Scuba said, and I don't know any shop in LA area, there are a few in OC that have a decent reputation for general mechanical work, but again depends on the level of support needed. VFR specific I'm not too sure about. Hopefully others in LA area will chime in.

    Not sure who/what Toe is?

The bike currently runs great. Flew to Houston and rode back to LA with flying colors!

I want to get some suspesion work done to stiffen 'er up.

Toe is a member here and is one of the more experienced members when dealing with bikes and their troubles. As far as suspension, I have done 2 front end replacements of the internal components but for the rear shock, I turned to Jamie Daugherty (another trusted forum member and suspension guru). Check out Jamie's website and/or send him an email or PM, I'm sure he'll be able to help you.

I did see his site and what he offered, however, I am not too experience with working on bikes and dont really have the tools needed to pull something like that off, which is why I wanted to find a shop to do the work once I bought the parts to swap.

As far as the rear shock, you'd probably want to either buy a direct replacement or have yours rebuilt for your riding style and weight, which you should seek a suspension specialist like Jamie. As far as installing the new components, that's where us forum members come in. I can say that I had Jamie rebuild an OEM shock off of an ABS model and send me the fork internals and it cost me less than what most aftermarket shocks alone would cost. I am totally satisfied with the service and components that Jaime provided. If you need help, I can be available to help you.

    Cheers!

Toe = TOE CUTTER. Not to be confused with toecutter. We have both and the latter is pretty much non active. Sometimes known as hooker. He can be found either in Sacramento area, or sometimes in your mother or sister's bed.
