Hello Peeps, I am going to take a look at a locally owned VF750 1983. It has 12,800 miles and the owner has owned if for 12 years. Cams were updated back in the late eighties and the valves were adjusted last year. He said the bike rides like it should with no issues.

    Newer chain, new battery.

The guy wants $900 US (which is $1200 CAD obo)

Are parts for the VF750 easier to come by than the VF500F?

    Any thoughts or comments welcome

Looks pretty good, low milage. Front fairing has been repainted, any other signs of having gone down? Mine has fallen over a couple times and went down hard once, but still looks pretty good. Easy to work on, rubber parts and gaskets still available.

Definitely a project bike, as long as it runs strong
    I'd go for it.

Only you can answer that. If it's just going to be something to mess around with then at least it's an interesting bike that still looks great IMO. However if you were intending on actually riding it a lot, then I would think an early VFR750 would make a much more sensible purchase. In the UK, the VF750 still comes up for sale on Ebay quite a bit, so Honda must have imported loads in 83/84/85. I remember them being heavily discounted as they didn't sell well. They never made any significant changes to the engine despite the chocolate camshaft fiasco unlike the VF500 and the VF1000 engines, probably because they made so many and had to sell them off.

In Alberta there were A LOT of VF750's sold. Used parts will be easier to find. I'd say the 500's sold the least of all the VF's. Good luck.

I have one of the '84 700cc US tariff models, not a bad bike at all. Cams and Regulator/rectifier ,as well as dirty carbs from sitting are things to watch for with the model.

Looks like the fairing as well as the side panels don't match the tank / rear plastic. Not that it matters as at 30+ years old and sub $1K you can't expect a highly original example. I gave $1000 for mine rode it home (it was pretty sick) after several hundred dollars and alot of TLC I now ride it everyday and have put around 3,000 miles on it in the last few months. My only regret is that I don't have another bike to ride so that I could tear down the vf for restoration.
It has had tires, battery, rr, fuel filter, windscreen, fork seals, carbs cleaned and jetted ,all fluids changed, seat shaved to lower height, rear brake pads / rebuilt caliper, braided steel front brake lines, all filters, fresh rubber parts whenever possible.
It's been a bit of a project but for my money and my time I have got a reasonably reliable piece of history which will outperform anything else I was as to find for around $1500. Which would have been a recent 250-300cc model sport bike, or an older small displacement enduro.

If your handy with a wrench and don't mind spending some time on the web researching and hunting for certain parts I would say go for it if the motor and frame are solid, nearly anything else can be sorted relatively inexpensively.

Even suspension can be upgraded with gold emulators for the front and a new rider specific shock for the rear for around $500 or so dollars.

Despite the fact that the vf series bikes aren't as refined as their more recent vfr cousins. They are still enjoyable bikes that can provide many miles of good riding.

    Regards
