Hey everyone my name is Scott. Oddly enough I don't have my VFR yet. I'm in the process of selling my current bike (05 600RR) for a CDR 07 non ABS model.

Some of this may sound stupid, but I have questions about it. I test rode it today and noticed much more vibration during open throttle than my CBR. I realize that this may be due to the V4 design, correct? Is the battery under the seat? I know that there are some TSB's for the 02-05 models, but is there any negative thing I should know about the 06+ models?

I also noticed that there aren't too many exhaust systems for it...can anyone recommend an exhaust? That is all I'm looking to do to it along with a FE as far as modification.

I love the bike, I love the sound and I'm very excited to get into something more comfortable for longer trips.

you should notice much LESS vibration unless you are lugging the motor below 2500rpm or so. Are you buying new or used?

It's used, but only 1726 miles used by a middle aged guy who's wife doesn't like the bike. I'm sure it wasn't beat on. The vibration isn't in the bars....more like under the seat when I really open the throttle.

WELCOME HERE! If you are above 2500 rpm then it should be really smooth. No issues or recalls for 2007. I have the same bike bought new in 2008. Where in western Mass are you? I am in Albany, NY

Springfield, MA. Maybe I'm explaining it wrong, but I definitely feel more vibration while accelerating than on my RR. The engine rev's smooth (no hesitiation/choppiness in throttle or noitceable difference on tach)...maybe it's just me?

Hey Scott, just to let you know, there are dealers around in the New England that still have brand new (0 miles) on the showroom floor 07's. I've looked up a few. There was one here in CT about 1 month ago at New England Cycle Works that was just built 2 days before I walked in. They were asking 8K. There was also several in New York for about the same price, some of them the RWB models. So, if you're willing to spend about 8K, you can get a leftover and not something used. Good Luck.

    Welcome to the forum, Scotty.

As the others have said, keep the revs at or above 4k rpm and the bike should be pretty smooth. Not as smooth as the average inline 4, but still good.

Yes, the battery is under the seat. It's doubtful it would vibrate much even if it's not fastened completely down tho.

I'll go out on a long limb here and ask is the seat was properly secured during your test ride? It's not impossible that the seat was loose and that contributed to the vibes. I know it's a longshot but I wanted to toss it out there.

As for aftermarket exahusts, Staintunes are very popular. Others include Leo Vince, Two Brothers, Remus, Devil, and some people have retrofit others.

Yes, I've been quoted $8400 OTD for a new leftover. I thought about this last night and I think I may shoot for a new one. Thanks for the info guys. I should have the word on whether my bike sells or not today. Then I'll decide to pick up a new leftover and sit on it over the winter or wait and take my chances in the the spring even though I may pay a little more if I can't find a new one..

    Welcome to the madness Scotty
I am also in the sprinfield area, there is a small group of us that get out on the weekends if you want to join.
I will post the links to the threads to follow for our rides.

If you have any issuses w/ your bike we can meet up and ck it out, but I'm sure it is nothing more then the V-4 rumble.

Awesome! I just called the guy and things look good. I have my buyer coming in about 30 minutes to do some preliminary paperwork.
