Having ridden a little over 150 miles and about 3.5 hours with theGen-Mar risers installed on my 2004, I thought a little update might help any members considering them. 1. Installation is quite easy and straight-forward. Follow the instructions and it should be no more than a 10 minute job. 5 minutes or less per side to remove the bars, set the riser/spacer in place, replace the bars, drop in the GenMar supplied top caps and tighten everything up. I did not raise the fork tubes. I called GenMar and they said it was not necessary on my machine. The only tool needed is a 12mm box end wrench. The spring clips at the top of the fork tubes can be removed with your fingernails and fingers. I guessed at the 14 foot pounds that is the proper torque for the bolts. I don't have a torque wrench so I will need to check the torque when I have access to one. 2. The riding position seemed slightly more comfortable, but part of that may be due to my adapting to the bike. Wharever the reason, no back or wrist pain in rides of 2 hours and 1.5 hours. 3. A side benefit for me. There is slightly more clearance between the bars and controls and the tank at full lock. I have read where some riser users had interference problems in that area, but it was the opposite for me. 4. Bottom line, I'm not sure the change is worth $110, but I'm happy. They are easy to install or remove so if you aren't happy with the results, you can easily remove them and sell them at not too great an expense.
