Easy check if you are having headlight/short related issues. Check that your starter button is not partially cutting the circuit like mine was. They button on this Gen2 needs to pop all the way back out to complete the circuit.

This manifested itself as a dead headlight (no power to connector).

This is the kind of crap I am seeing on the more neglected bikes.

Odds are the button is damaged. When the button sticks it is most often caused by one of the hinges at the rear of the button breaking off and the button becomes misaligned and hangs up. I have replaced hundreds over the years because of this, a later model switch gear is a direct replacement , requires no modification and is much improved switch.

what TOECUTTER said...I had the same issue with mine and I had an electrical feadback..........blew out all my lights , and the tach ,except for the highbeam I didn't rea;ize it until it got dark... the end result was 11 bulbs (give or take a few) a "new " tach , and a newer stated switch...

by the way McViffer speaking of neglecdted bikes......yours looks like a basket case I let you give it to me......
