    Good morning!

I am reassembling my '85 vf700f engine and started on the internal gearshift linkage last night. After installing stopper arm bolt and all related parts I go to put the nut on the stopper arm bolt (w/ a hex wrench) and after a few cranks the nut just spins freely. At first I thought maybe this is normal but after realizing one of the springs was on wrong I go to remove the nut to fix it and I get the same thing, it just spins freely on the stopper arm bolt. I am guessing the threads on the nut stripped and it is now stuck on the bolt. Any ideas how to get this off? I have tried a pair of gator grip pliers turning the nut and pulling it towards me at the same time to try and overcome the stripped threads but this hasn't worked...
