Maybe someone who's tried it could tell me - Will the 4th gen fuel tank fit a 3rd gen (interchange)? Thanks!

Really nice of you to offer, betrarace. I was looking for the extra capacity of the 4th gen tank on my soon-to-be commuter bike. The 3rd gen body work is getting really hard to find. Wavering between Airtech panels and simply going to the 4th gen front clip (sacrilege I know). If I went with the newer front clip, would the 4th gen fuel tank fit my 3rd gen frame? I'm more interested in a clean-looking and good-running bike than a collectible unit... far too many dings and scratches on this bike for it to ever be a museum piece.
Turns out the 3rd & 4th gen tanks are interchangeable - but the 4th gen's rear mount is not in the same place as the 3rd gen tank... so a mounting tab has to be fabricated when swapping tanks.
