It never hurts to ask... unless somebody beats you over the head with it for being so insulting.

For some reason, that makes me think of the OCC gang and their custom choppers. I guess there is always somebody willing to pay far too much for far too little.

    Thanks Metallican.

I really can't claim too much braggin' rights though,$2K is just a drop in the bucket compared to the near $5K that Toe just plunked down for that A&A Performance Supercharger kit.

A Supercharged RWB,now THAT my friend is something I REALLY wanna see. :hail:

 I don't know; I kind of like titanium hardware, and a VFR can use all the help it can get in the weight reduction department. It would take me forever to download the pics (dial up connection), so I couldn't see your project bike, unfortunately.

Maybe you can get that aluminum tank to fit... Or perhaps you and Donald can get a discount if you buy two.

What was the weight shed switching all that to Ti? Im pretty sure there is little to no return on investment for the ti bolts/screws an washers. but it does add bragging as mentioned

    Thanks for the link.
I know all about that guy. He does not make gas tanks or seats.
    Thats all I can say.

I like people that do what they say, and actually make a product.

For seats, and stickin to my story, the cookie cutter types from the big boys are just that. Give my buddy Rich O'Connor at Rich's seats a shout. Never figured out why some dudes never even check in to a custom upholstery shop.

I didn't see any tanks either, but you never know and a guy who seems as specialized and that dedicated might have some leads..He does has some pretty cool stuff.

In Tokyo there is a bike "district" They have more farkles than you can begin to imagine. Damn near ordered an aluminum tank for my SR500 that replicated the look of a Manx Norton. Last I looked it was around the $500.00 mark.

Tanks are pricy, even stockers, if new. I bought a new steel tank for an R100R BMW from a guy for a hundred bucks. Retail $ 640.00 and that was about 15 years ago. One of the big aluminum Heinrichs for a BMW painted and new will go for well over two grand if ya can find one at all.

Had a "Breadloaf" on a Gold Star once upon a time. No paint..waste of time runnin behind some of the fast guys.

Uberfarklefactor only. Sort of like old school drilling of frames, bitsas and hangars. The proof came when some dude saved all the shards and weighed them.

Can we say holy smokes? ;)

Hmmmm....... I dunno,I suppose I could weigh all that hardware if you really wanna know.

I guess return on investment is all a matter of perspective Ignoreance.

If weight savings alone were the goal, than viewed from that perspective you get comparatively little return on your investment with Titanium hardware.
You'd need to replace a significant amount of nuts/bolts/washers to see a significant amount of weight loss at which time you'll have spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of $$$$$.
While Titanium is generally around 42% to 45% lighter than comparable steel it usually costs around 10 times as much. But that's not the reason why I went with the Titanium hardware.

I like to sweat the details on my bikes.

There's no denying the fact that Titanium is strong, light weight, corrosion resistant, and has that intangible "Bling Factor". But the primary reason I went with Titanium hardware is that it presented me with the opportunity to use a strong light weight bolt in a position where an Aluminum bolt would simply be dangerous to use and it also allowed me to add more color and detail to my bike.

Just a bit more eye-candy for me,or the casual observer,to look at. And that's exactly what I was after.
When viewed from that perspective,Titanium hardware will bring me more than enough return on my investment.

    Holy Smokes,yes we can!

It is all relative as they say, and money is one of the most relative things.
what qualifies as "too much" and/or "too little" varies greatly by the person

It's a motorcycle a vehicle most of ride for fun, it isn't an investment vehicle, a person is supposed to have fun with it. Whatever their fun is and whatever their wallet can afford. There needs to be no other return than "I wanted it, so I got it", "that's cool", or "that's pretty".
