I am rebuilding a 85 vf1000f. I decided to get a gas tank from ebay in factory colors instead of painting the one on the bike. Both tanks are from vf1000f's.

I noticed the tank I got from ebay has what looks like an overflow tube under the tank near the front. The original doesnt have this.

Does anyone know why there is this difference in the 2 tanks?

I havent been able to find anything in parts manuals or in the maintenance manual. Is there a rubber tube that connects to this overflow?

The one with the small tube in the front is a California tank. The small tube is the tank vent and would have gone to the charcoal canister. The gas cap from that tank is not vented . Good luck.

    Thanks for that info.

If its only a for the california gas cap, Can I just swap gas caps on the tank and plug the vent tube?

I havent seen anything in any manuals of any charcoal canisters or any parts for this California modification.
