My damn gas mileage has gone to crap. I went from 42-48 to about 38. I have no clue why.

Oh, wait a minute... I know why...

    I FINALLY installed a Staintune slip-on.

I should have done this in 2000 when I bought the bike. I wanted to then but $525 was quite a bit to spend when you're an E-5 living off base at Shaw AFB, SC. I started with a TBR Ti. It fell apart because it was a POS. After the TBR, I switched to a Scorpion CF. The Scorpion is a fine piece of equipment but it just didn't have that SOUND that Staintune offers.

I got a lo mount (like the stock pipe) & I installed it with the spud removed & it's MUSIC. This thing sounds just like a miniature Ferrari. My warmest regards to the Aussies who craft these works of art. I sincerely doubt if I will ever put the spud back in. This pipe looks as if it's been carved from a solid block of SS. The finish is like a mirror & I rarely see quality of this type in ANY product let alone a vehicle part.

    Pics to follow shortly.

So you can't remap to get better mileage, or you just ride at higher rpm's now so you and your close traveling friends can hear the music?

    RIGHT YOU ARE!

My neighbor has Harley V-Rods & runs a mobile bike workshop. He's used to hearing HD's all day, every day. Him & his buds routinely throw snide comments whenever they see me & my yellow bike. As soon as I started it & gunned the throttle a few times, their ears all perked up & they started looking my way. He even came across the street to ask what kind of muffler I just put on. It was great.

    Staintune

I installed my Staintune last night. What a beautiful pipe. Sounds great, looks great and riding in this morning there is definitely an increase in mid-range torque. Roll-on passing was notably more effectively. Love it.

 Holy molly it is a KC-10 lovefest...
just because he has shiny new pipes. What happened to the angst usually associated with his posts?

I'll have to remember the Staintune route when I've overstayed my welcome

Hope you get sometime to run them this weekend Casey.

I think those Stainetunes put KC on such a high right now that we might shortly see a Ford & New Jersey love thread from our Flight Engineer buddy :pound:

I got gas in NJ once... Do they not let you pump your own gas there? The station attendant kept yelling at me (in either an unknown language or English dialect), even after I paid and drove off, for some reason. I had my ear-buds in and didn't really care to listen I guess

Not on my list of favorite states to visit.

Yes, pumping gas yourself is in fact illegal in the Garden State. It is a way to ensure the "un-skilled" have jobs under the guise of an "Environmental" program. The state's offical position on the matter is something to the effect of: If only "Skilled & Trained" individuals dispense gasoline, there will be less spillage & therefore less damage to the environment. I guess the gas stations never got the memo since 90% of the time, you're lucky if you can find a nimrod that speaka da ingish a litta goood. An overwhelming majority of the service station employees are of some foreign origin or teen-age guys working during HS. 95% of the time, I get gas on base since I get to pump it myself. That way, there is no pump monkey dragging the nozzle across my truck bed or slamming the fuel door or not installing the fuel cap. Never, not ever do I let ANYONE put fuel into my bikes. I'll go to another station before I let that happen.

As far as my Ford truck goes, it's funny you guys mention it. Today, I caught the local Ford dealer in a blatant lie. They said I needed new brakes, to the tune of $200 + tax per axle. No problem, trucks need brakes every now & then but $428 is pretty steep for brakes. They even wrote on the invoice that my pads had "less than 15%" pad wear remaining. I bought the pads at Advance Auto & put them on in my driveway in less than an hour for all 4. Problem is, the old pads measured just under 1/2" in thickness. The new one were less than 3/4". That doesn't seem like "less than 15%" to me so I brought the old pads in to the Ford dealer & presented them to the service manager. He apologized profusely & I have an appointment to speak to the owner of the dealer next week. Like I said, first Ford I've ever owned & LAST Ford I'll ever own. We never get that kind of treatment at the local VW dealer.

:banplease: You guys know you love me & would miss me if I was gone.

Dude, you own the best motorcycle manufacturers product, time to upgrade to a Honda automobile and match up. I have owned several Honda cars as well as MCs and their cars are just as reliable. I've got a 91 CRX I paid $800 for two years ago and it still runs like a top. No major repairs, just maintenance. 150k+ miles and still going. I just wish Staintune made an exhaust for it. It just don't sound the same as the Viffer.

Problem is, Honda doesn't make a full-size, V8, RWD, "Real Pick Up Truck". If anyone says or thinks the Ridgeline is a "real" truck, please seek help at your local mental health professional's office immediately.

I'm actively saving to buy a Nissan Titan. I was planning on buying one next week. Plans have changed, since the Wife & I decided to take part of the down payment & go to Oktober Fest in Germany.:whoo: It's the 1st time in 10.5 years of marriage we've both had 15 days off in a row so we decided to splurge.

Take a look at the Toyota as well, it is pricey but can haul like 2800lbs. The Ridgeline is more of a crossover suv. Not a fullsize truck. However Honda has been thinking about a full size RWD V8.

In my last job I dealt with the Dealerships for 15 years, service and parts is diffently where they make their money, I've sat through a lot of meetings with the owners and service managers when it comes to business and the service managers are diffently under big time pressure to hit certain quota's. Some managers will do almost anything to achieve those quota's.

I've also witnessed Service Writers & Mechanics over sell and brag about it on countless occasions. I try to avoid any service at any dealership unless it's under warranty or I've pre negotiated a price on service.

The incident you had at the Ford dealership I believe goes on at 90% of all dealerships...

    2 problems with the Tundra.

    1) It is butt fugly.

    2) It isn't a real extended cab. I want a truck with 2 suicide doors, not the silly midget forward opening doors.

That still doesn't make it right. The quest for a couple of bucks in such a manner makes me sick.

Well, what do you know... I hi-jacked my own thread. The Staintune pipe still rocks.

My boss just bought a new GMC 2500 diesel 4 door 4wd auto for $36,000.
This truck is LOADED!! You might check the GMC out before buying. I think the gas 1500 series is about 10G less.
