    Hey Guys,

I am moving to a smaller garage and will not have enough floor space to store my bike. I was thinking of getting a wall mounted lift that takes the bike off the floor and allows me to drive my vehicle’s hood under it. I have found two contenders and want your opinions/comments.

Garage cargo lift http://www.garagecargolift.com/ is a Canadian product sold by the manufacturer.
    and
    the US competitor Loft-it, http://www.loft-it.com/

Both have the same weight rating and deck size.

    What do you think?

Pretty cool, as long as your ceiling is tall enough. My ceiling is only about 7 feet so it wouldn't work very well for me. But if my ceiling were higher, I could see it as a viable storage solution.

How wide/deep is your new garage space? I didn't have enough space to store my bikes in my garage and ended up buying two bike dollies. They allowed me to ride the bike onto the dolly and then fold the mirrors in and push it right up against the wall. Is that a possible option? I think I paid $70 each from Harbor Freight and they worked great!

The garage is 19Wx21D, and has two full sized cars sharing space. The appeal of the lift was that it could fit in the unused cubic feet starting at 4 feet from the ground and going to the ceiling. I will definetly check out the bike dolly. Have you had any problems with stability? That is alot cheaper then what I'm considering.

I never had any issues with stability and as long as the garage surface is smooth and you take your time and not jerk the dolly around you should be ok.

Both of the lifts look like a disaster in the making.

As Scuba mentioned I also have the dolly that Rollin has and other than one wheel getting stuck from time to time, it works great for my application. I have a single car garage and I have 3 bikes and one car, plus a plethora of other stuff on the floor (tool boxes, tire changer, etc.). That being said, the key to my success in this game of vehicle Tetris is shelving. The previous owner had built shelving that allows me to store a lot of stuff that stays off the floor, and since the lowest shelf is just above the top of the faring I can store one bike on the dolly under the back rear shelf, parallel to the back wall, the other bike along side it, my car in front of those two bikes (albeit very close to the side wall of the garage, plus I must back it in) and the 3rd bike parallel to the car. I'm not sure of the garage dimensions but I can get those if you would like them.

Although the lift idea seems like it would be cool, I think that it might be more trouble to get the bike(s) in/out than just using a dolly and clever parking arrangement. Getting as much floor space as you can is the key IMO. It took me a couple of tries getting the right spots for everything but now that I have a place for everything, it's a snap to get things in or out. Other than having to move the car out to get to either bike along the back wall, it's really a low hassle arrangement.
