FZ1 Owner comes over and unreservedly loves VFR's

Sunday being a perfect day, no wind, nice and sunny if a little on the cool side. Went for a casual ride South with a few fellow OzVFR's starting through my favourite set of nearby twisties Sydney's great Royal National Park.

Around the straightish sections Mid way through the Park with passed a slightly slower moving rider on a 2002 FZ1, wasn't in a hurry so passed him calmly to find he increased his speed to tag with us, well at least until we hit the multiple sets of twisties again where despite his obvious trying with us still riding at a calm pace we pulled progressively away from him before long he dropped from site.

Arriving at the scenic outlook of Bald Hill at the end of the park run, the FZ1 guy came over wanting to chat, ended up he was a pretty decent guy in his early '50's that had been riding continuously since the mid '70's and raced a bit in the '80's still owned 2* Rz500's ( loved them when they were new ) one of which he bought brand new in 1985.

No duffer then, his comments were us VFR guy's like to press on a bit through the twisties :biggrin: which we do but we weren't particularly fast that morning.

Anyway the reason he was trying to tag with our little grouping of 2*Gen5's, 1*Gen6 and a Super Blackbird was he was trying desperately to keep within earshot of our wonderful V4 music.

What had spurred him on most was when me drifting by him he said he nearly fell off his bike and in love with mix of Cams whine mixed with the sound of my Carbon " Race Only " ARROW. :biggrin:

Not used to this kind of gushing found he had been in two minds between the 2001 VFR and then new Fz1 in 2002 and after modding the Fz1 with straight bars to give it a VFR like lean forward he had believed he made the right choice.

Our VFR's drifting by him had shocked his world with a sudden realisation that he had made made the totally wrong choice and should chosen the VFR over the Fz1 based purely on its wonderful V4 sounds. :smile:
