fuel reserve sensor thingy

Okay made a lot of progress on rebuild...but lost on where the fuel reserve sensor goes. according to the service manual it just hangs down by the rear brake pedal. but that doesnt make sense cause it has threads as if its supposed to be screwed into something...any help please...

also how close does the starter have to be to the battery? I did the cbr600rr tail swap and trying to see where to put it....at its factory location or closer to the new battery location...
