    Hello
Just bought an 86 vfr750 the km are around the 22k mark and it is in need of some tlc, I can see the potential in the bike and want to bring it back to its forma glory. I will put some pics on soon to capture the starting point for the project.
can anyone tell me if the fuel pump on the 87 model is the same as the 86 fuel pump?
the other question is does anyone know where i can fine the parts list for a 86 model vfr750

    The pumps are the same.
PM me your email address and I'll send you a PDF copy of the FG parts list. It might be US specific though.

Yep, pumps are the same. Matter of fact, several Japanese manufacturers used the exact same Mitsubishi pump on a wide variety of bikes over many years, so chances of finding one in a breaker's yard aren't bad.

Note that if your pump seems dead, you need to try bypassing the pump relay first before concluding , cuz relays that power the pump fail far more often than the pumps themselves.

One test is to measure resistance between the 2 pump wires. If you have low resistance, the pump will probably work, but no conductivity means no workie.

Best of luck with your project !

Hey Squirrel, I am not sure if anyone has ever discussed an alternate relay to use in place of the faulty ones that plague our bikes. From what i can gather the relay is just a simple 3 wire jobber that takes a trigger signal from the CDI unit. Has anyone found a 12volt relay that would fit the bill yet?
