I know it has probably been done to death but I'm looking for a new fuel pump for my 86 VFR. Would I be right in assuming that pretty much any of the aftermarket pumps will do the job. I assume that all the fuel injected ones would be fitted in the tank? if this is the case then all the external pumps would only be pushing up against the carby needle and seat so the pressure should only be pushing about 3 or 4 psi. Am I shooting in the wrong direction or assuming too much? Any advice appreciated
You're pretty much spot-on. Any of the aftermarket units should get you where you need to be. If you get one of the chinese generics, could you post a review after running with it a while? I know that getting one eventually is a likelihood and I'd love to know if they are up to snuff.
Thanks Rotary I fitted one of the square ones , inlet one side, outlet the other, not sure what pressure it pumps but it runs all the time and I'm not sure if it should do that. I can't see how it would shut off. I was thinking of somehow a bypass so that when the tank is full the pump could be turned off and once the fuel in the tank got lower than the carbs you could then turn the pump on to pull the fuel from the lower sides of the tank, sort of like having a second sort of reserve
Somebody replied to this in an email to me but somehow the email has vanished, I just wanted to thank him for the advice
