The fuel float on my 99 vfr800 has gone bad, not only does it not float, but even if you move the floater with a pair of pliars, the gauge stays at 100. I'm trying to find a replacement, but they're either for 6th gen+ bikes or a million dollars. Would a fuel sender from a 6th gen or later fit in a 5th gen bike?

    No unit is completely different.

    Try European fleaBay sites.
These bikes were not great sellers in znorth America but sold well in Europe.

There are, as an example, over 20 used examples on UK fleaBay site.
