    I have a problem > :(

I have resently have done three things to the bike in the offseason and now its having one problem,

I took my bike down to nekkid. Got the plastics painted, and after i got the parts back i took it down to the local honda shop to get the wiring harness replaced from the recall. And after i got it back i installed the PC3 with 330 om resistors.

THE problem is the fuel gauge isnt working after i filled the tank?

I ran it really low in fuel before the end of the season, so it would be easy to empty it for painting. and when i got it back i put the little bit of fuel i had back in. Of course it was very little so i thought it was blinking at that time becasue it was REALLY low. I went and got the harness replaced and then put the rest of it back together today and went to try it out then put a full tank in it. STILL BLINKING.

    DID i do something wrong,
or could it be the wiring recall.

    HELP?????

full tank and its still blinking showing "one bar"? My guess would be the fuel level sensor inside the tank is still on the bottom (leaking float or stuck pivot?)

If its still blinking but showing "all bars" I would be more suspect of an electrical problem.

I have a complete fuel level gage in the stockroom (gen5). i can look at it tonight to see what likelihood the thing would get stuck. if it turns out you need a float or a gage, let me know.

I would first make sure that the blue connector under the tank is connected correctly. If it is, you can remove the tank and pull the sensor out (plate with four bolts on bottom of tank) and test the sensor resistance. You should have 1-5 kohms when the float is in the full position and 92-96 kohms when the float is in the empty position. Check the dash display when you have the sensor out. Turn the key on and move the float arm - you should see the bar gauge move up and down when you move the float arm.

Check the blue connector under the tank first!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks norcalboy, of course ill double check athe connector (it was hookup right) after I put the tank back on) but honda removed or lifted the tank when they replaced the recall harness.

Axel... if it was just painted, could a layer or two of clearcoat gotten on the connectors, making it appear they were clean, but not allowing good contact?

I'm thinking it is a physics problem of an open circuit some where, a way to test for this is to put a 5Kohm resistor (assuming NorcalBoy's value is correct for a full tank)(radio shack would have one) in the wiring harness and see if that gives a full tank indication when you turn the ignition on. Since the tank full resistance is << than empty, an open circuit would look like an empty tank.

Ask if this doesn't make sense and someone will likely give you an answer.

    good luck.

We'll it turns out i called the Honda shop and asked if the harness they replaced had anything to do with the fuel gauge and the service guy said no but got the mechanic that did the work on the phone and said sorry but he unplugged it as he thought it need to be removed but never did touch it and forgot to reconnect it.

    So its all good
    :)

Nice! I'm glad you didn't have to go through a bunch of additional troubleshooting. I'm a firm believer in checking the easiest thing first. Enjoy your machine!

Thats good you got the problem fixed.
    Is that holeshots in langley?
if so thats were i got me recall work done. one of the most pleasant experience i have had with any dealer service work done on anything in recent memory. was the only dealer that took the time to contact honda Canada to get recall work done on a US import bike.

Yes they were great, speedy and the mechanic took time to explain that the wiring harness is a bit wider then OEM and to make sure to push clip up when putting fairing back on.....

They are doing well and are expanding to new building SOON>
