fuel filter noise

i have a 87 vfr 700 and i've been riding it for two months now and today i heard a knocking noise coming from the bike. i never noticed it b4 but today i did. i took off the side panel and it noise is coming from the fuel pump. the bike runs normal even with the noise but its a bit annoying. is there something wrong with it?

 

Is the fuel pump hitting metal to metal? The rubber mount may be bad.

 

its not hitting anything. it has a plastic band holding it in place

 

If you hold the pump does the noise go away?

 

no, it doesn't

 

Your sure it's the pump, you can unplug it the engine will run till the carbs empty, if it's the pump making alot of noise it may be getting tired. If mine gets bad I'm trying this one. It's a close copy. Same Specs. Link below

very nice looking pump...yea dude...thats the piece that is making the noise. i'm gonna play with it this weekend and see what i can do with it. i think fell down the plastic band. i put it back up and it didn't sound bad but i didn't run it for long and the bike was barly warm....but i'm gonna mess with it this weekend and see....but its still running find
