I'm new to the forum, but I'm not new to the VFR. I used to own a 1987 Honda VFR700F2, I missed that bike so much that I've always kept wanting to get another one. I recently bought a 2004 Honda VFR800i. I've only ridden it for about 1 hour and it handles great, though I'm not used to a fuel injected bike. Here are my questions: The previous owner wanted a sportier ride, so he swapped out the entire front end to Honda CBR F4i forks and wheel as well as threw in an adjustable Ohlin rear shock. I want to make the bike looks whole again since there is a slight discontinuity with the CBR front wheel tri-spoke pattern and the VFR rear 5-spoke pattern. What year VFR front wheel should I be looking for to replace the CBR F4i front wheel? If I find a 1998-2010 VFR front wheel, would it fit just fine? Anything I should keep in mind when swapping them out. On a side note, the 2004 Honda VFR800 is black. What tasteful modifications can be done to make it more visible asides from HID's? Reflective striping on the wheels? Polish/chrome the wheels for better side profile visibility? The fairings and seat cowl are bare of any reflective decals. Key factor is tasteful and appear that it could have been that way stock. Much thanks.
first off, HID lights wont make it more visible. they will likely blind others unless you have projectors, and light the road poorly at best. the F4i front end, I'd replave with OEM and upgrade the internals. talk to racetech or ohlins about upgraded internal components for stock suspension if you want to realy keep the bike stock appearing with good handling characteristics. for visibility, rider is the biggest issue. remember one MAJOR thing. loud colors save lives. flourescent green and safety orange are the two most difficult to NOT see colors, and are well worth having. helmet, a good bright jacket, and ride where you CAN BE SEEN! that is what causes a lot of crashes, people hangin out in blind spots.
