    Hey Guys and Gals,

Im doing a VFR wheel conversion on my bastardized of a child Kawasaki and I got some great information from here but I need some more.

Im going to have to custom cut a set of rotors for this conversion as the Honda rotors are just over 4.5mm thick and the Kawi ones are 5.5 MINIMUM.

Galfer, Breaking and all the other companies are unwilling to help me out with this (no custom orders of less than 100 sets) so I need to do it myself.

I have the wheels but I do not have a set of spare rotors to help the actual mock up. Which leads me to the question........

WHAT MAKES AND MODELS CROSS FIT THE VFR 800 FRONT WHEEL?

I just need the rotors to help me figure out if I need more offset or if they will line up in the center of the calipers without me facing my wheels or making shim plates to space the rotors out a millimeter here or there.

Anyone who knows what makes and models will cross-fit, please chime in. Id much rather buy a set of used rotors of ebay to fit these things than to hack up an expensive set.

Why won't the rotors of the brand of forks work?
What are you trying to do exactly?
a VFR wheel and Kawi forks and kawi brakes?

Im pretty sure I was clear on that last message.

I have VFR wheels to go on a Kawasaki.

VFR ROTORS are too thin based on specs stamped into the carrier.

EVERYTHING ELSE I CAN FIX WITH SIMPLE MACHINING but I cant add material to rotors.

NEED: to know which hondas eg. 900RR,929, RC51, F4I ect rotors will mount up in place of a set of stock VFR800 rotors so that I can find them cheaply on ebay or elsewhere.

    Why?

Because then I know for sure what needs to be done to make this conversion work.

The cost of me having some stainless surface ground to the right thickness and then laser cut to work for my application (this assumes I use a stock carrier) is extremely expensive. These would be an 800^ set of rotors for some one offs and I have friends with the right tools. Stopping their CNC equipment to run me one set of rotors is not the best idea Ive ever had but its that or I sit around trying to gnaw thru some stainless steel to get the dimensions and everything and then I can grind it out on asphault for thickness.

As it stands, unless I use a stock carrier I will have to make the rotors out of stainless and if I get lucky............I can use flat stock for the carrier and then I will cut my own carriers. I will still need to make the buttons that float the rotors and a tool to swage them.

All because I love the single sided swingarm and multi spoke wheels Honda had the balls to make year after year.

Now everyone makes lame ugly wheels.

In all honesty, this would have been cheaper to do with marchesinis but I wouldnt have the fun of overcoming a challenge like I have.

I dont get it........what does pew pew pew have to do with anything mentioned thus far?

Stainless is either water cut or laser cut when dealing with thin plates to make rotors. Laser is preferable due to the oxidation that can happen to certain grades of stainless as not all are necessarily "non-ferrous"

So does anyone know anything about the swappable rotors or not?

    rotors

The dealer can do a cross reference on the VFR rotor's part number and it will reveal what other models use the same part.

Plan to be disappointed. Hondas are notorious for having one part that only fits one bike. Case in point: stator cover gasket fits VFR 5th gen and.....RC30. Thats it.

Yeah I have to switch wheels.......which isnt a bad thing.

Im now on the hunt for a RC51 (sp2) front wheel. This will get me into the right thickness rotor and closer to fitting than the VFR FRONT.

So I have a money straight VFR FRONT but unfortunately I paint stripped some of it to see if I wanted to acid dip it or paint strip it.

I intend to fully polish this front wheel so if anyone is in the market for a straight front, let me know. I will be stripping this thing next week if I dont hear out of anyone and keeping it for another project I have (900RR Turbo project) as its so hard to find dead straight fronts these days.

If anyone knows where I can find a good SP2 front, please let me know, color does not matter just that its straight.
