I recently bought a new caliper with secondary cylinder for the front left side of my vfr800 5th Gen.

I've managed to bleed the front brakes fine but am having some trouble with the lower bleed nipples and proportional valve linked to the rear reservoir. I can't seem to pull any fluid through any of them.

I'm wondering if I could have attached the brake valves and banjoes the wrong way or I've placed the washer incorrectly and it's affecting the seal (I don't think this would eb a problem is they're crush washers)?

I've attached an image of the reinstalled caliper and hoses.

    Advice is very welcome.

What process are you following for the bleeding procedure? i.e. What shop manual?

Oops, hit reply too quickly. To answer your question, yes there are crush washers for all of the brake line hoses but these shouldn't hinder fluid flow. It's near impossible to put a banjo bolt on incorrectly without seeing fluid go all over the place.

The bleed sequence is very important, as is the orientation of the SMC during bleeding to the PCV and rear centre piston. The manual has details but basically you want the SMC to be heading uphill from the pushrod eye during bleeding.

Whenever you press the foot pedal down, you will be pushing fluid into and through the SMC to the PCV and rear centre piston; that is not obvious (most assume the centre piston only activates from movement of the SMC) but is part of the design.

It looks like you have both crush washers on one side (top) of the banjo bolts? Shouldn't affect flow, but may allow leaks?
