I bought 99 Gen 5 from my local dealer, bike is clean as a pin other than previous ownwer had it fall over off the sidestand while parked, it has a crack on the front fairing by the headlight and one on the left lower were it meets the frame below the fuel tank. The dealer said if I remove the parts they use a special Ford plastic bumper repair epoxy that they will fix the cracks easily and permanent. How big of a job is it to remove the front fairing and left lower on a 99??? Thanks in advance for any helpful info or thoughts...

Its more simple than you think. The only bolts that are holding on the lower you can see. The upper is a bit more tricky, but remove the mirrors, and the dash surround and you're home free other than wires going to lights.

Download the service manual or go to one of the larger sites that sell Honda parts for a schematic of the various fastners used to attach the fairings.

Is this dealer going do the paintwork as well? There are several "fix" materials on the market that will work on ABS plastic. I have my doubts that this "special" Ford bumper repair mix is epoxy..

There is more to fixing a crack, hole or other damage to fairings than you are being led to believe.

Ask specific questions of this dealership.

My question would be, if this dealership is willing to fix the cracks, why do they even want you to remove the various pieces? A tech at the dealership would spend maybe ten minutes tops, on removal.
