Hello all! I'm new to the world of Interceptors and thought I'd post an intro with the story of how I came to own mine. I recently traded a 1973 Chevelle (hammered) for 2 KZ1000 LTD's, one running and one in pieces, to build a commuter and save money on gas. The original idea was to build the basket case for my wife as a mild custom, but she's since decided it's just a bit too tall for her. We were thinking of financing a new bike when one of her co-workers mentioned he had an old, beat up bike she could have. Yes, have. His father-in-law had dropped it and he had left it alone for 2 years and finally decided to donate it to charity. Apparently, my wife and I are now a charity. The bike is a 1984 VF750 that, while rough to look at, runs quite well. I desparately need to find a new tank, but other than that the plastics are in fair shape. I'm looking forward to building the bike, although I'm not sure who is going to end up riding it yet....

Hey, don't knock the "runs great but has been wrecked" bikes, that's how I got my FZ6 for so cheap. Good luck on teaching her! Or not, I notice you didn't say whether she could ride already. D'oh me!

Welcome to the group. Looks aren't everything. What counts is it runs and usually whatever is broken can be fixed. Peruse the forums and put to good use the knowledge here-in as well as picking some brains.

These early rides still got it. Mine was recently purchased from a cat whose dad owned it but never rode it. 1984 with 13,2xx miles? Are you kidding me?! For $1,700 I stole my bike. Not a museum piece, but it's the cleanest '84 I've ever seen. I'll be upgrading to full custom fairings soon, though. Good luck finding a tank. That may be the hardest part to find for these babies.

Welcome to the site! Always great to have a story to go along with your bike. If I was your wife, I'd be the one riding it for sure! hehe

    Bent?

Thanks for all the support! I look forward to getting this machine back into service. One quick question... Does anyone know of a shop in the Sacramento area that can determine if a frame is bent? I want to check the bike out thoroughly before I dump a ton of cash into it.
