I try to not post pics of every tour our group does, but outside of the Pacific Northwest Tour in June (see previous post), this was one of the best, so Ihad to share. It involves visiting all 4 mountains nearby here on Washington and Oregon; Mt. Raineer, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood. Some of the roads were so narrow as to be one car wide and getting into 4th gear took real courage, and there was about 40 miles of this. Others were practically perfect. All in all, 3 days of genuine VFR territory.
Took a ride down to Ocean Shores, Washington a number of years ago, I have a definite appreciation for the roads and scenery. One of my favourite areas as far as scenery goes was the ride to Lake Quinault Lodge. A very rustic old lodge that had almost no connection to the outside world. I say this because the rooms had no phones, no television and no Internet. I stayed one night and it was one of the most relaxing nights I have ever spent in a hotel. The only downside was the silence at night was truly deafening. It can be amazing how familiar you become with going to sleep in a noisy environment, to the point that I found myself listening for the noise that was just plain not there. The way the trees grew over the roads and created a canopy made the ride extraordinary. Definitely on the list of areas to visit again in the future. Thanks for sharing the photos.
