    Hello Chaps
I'm just changing the very old stinky fork oil in my new to me 1991 FM and have been trying to find the correct oil level measurement. Can anyone help.

This is the first time I have ever changed the fork oil with forks in the bike . I do have a bike jack under the engine to support it and get it to the correct height to do the fork tops back up.

level needs to be set with springs removed. be sure to work the forks up and down a few times to distribute the oil properly.

Yes. To properly fill forks you need to go by level, not qty. Forks completely compressed without springs making sure damping circuits are charged, like SM said.

Hi Yes the springs are out and I'll pump the damper to get rid of any air. Cheers Chaps for your helpful suggestions.

more labor but it's best to remove forks for a good washout with solvent and a proper upsidedown draining to remove all the silver sludge.
