More of a general issue, working on some fourth gen carbs that have plenty of 'vintage' fuel clogging them up. In all but one of the bowls, the pin that the float pivots on is stuck and can't be pulled out with pliers. One side of the pivot point is next to a brass piece with very little clearance, making it impossible to tap it out from the other side. Image attached. On the one I got out I managed to wedge a thin strip of metal behind it. Have added carb cleaner and drops of penetrating fluid to ease, but nothing doing. What is the brass fitting? Is it removable? I don't recognise it in any parts fiche.
OK hair dryer seemed to be sufficient on them. Would still be good to know what that brass fitting is and where all the passages go. Also have to say it's not like the clearances for this were overlooked or anything. I quite like the little hole in the linkage specifically for the pin from carb#2!
DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE IT. You will mangle it attempting. Just keep soaking and trying. Some 3rd Gen carbs I recently rebuild had the same issue. It just took time and patience with a small, but sturdy flat blade until I finally got a little movement. EDIT: I was a little late. Good job.
