Just don't do the de-snorkel mod, tried it for 1 month which included a 3 day 1200mile twistie ride and found the slight improvment to the top end was offset by a unacceptably flat mid range and noticably worsened economy, other VFR folks that had tried it and reverted also meantioned that water would also find its way into the airbox on long rides in heavy rain.
