On my second 2007 VFR RWB, but new to the forum, so howdy everybody. I've got a question I'm sure can be answered here regarding first service for the bike. I picked up a gently used 2007 VFR with 254 miles on it from Southwest Superbikes in Dallas, TX. They said that they changed the oil on it when they took it in, but I can't confirm that this was done. The bike didn't have the manual with it. My last bike had 5000 miles on it when then future wife suggested that I get another 4-wheeler so she could ride with me instead of trying to hold onto the back of the VFR. I caved and traded the bike, regretted ever since but remedied that last month. I changed oil twice on my last VFR, went synthetic and to K+N filter, but never took it in for a service. Any ideas about what mileage mark I need to start looking at doing this? The bike runs great and I've put 800 miles on it this past month without a hiccup. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
According to owners manual initial service at 600 miles or 1 month, regular oil change interval every 8k or 12 months. Most riders probably change their oil a little more frequently than 8k though. I change the oil every 5k, easy number to remember. Something to look at based on time would be clutch & brake fluid, recommend every 12k or 2 yrs. Coolant every 24k or 2 yrs.
As Arnzinator said, the first oil change is at 600 miles, so I'd get it done now. You're a little over, but I wouldn't worry about it.
