Just got the carbs back on after cleaning / rejetting, valve adjustment (fronts might be a bit tight?), plugs, wires, cleaned K&N, fuel filter, and I think that's about it.

Anyhow set the tank on a fired her up after priming, with carbs bench balanced and fuel screws out 2 turns. She came to life and after a brief warm period I shut off the choke (should have primed better) and boom 1100 rpm smooth idle. OoooO blown away.

At this point I slid the tank to the side to feel and watch the slide action. I could hear what sounded like a little bit of reversion coming from one of the front cylinders. Made me wonder if maybe I didn't get a intake valve adjusted a bit tight, but could just be the cam profile at low rpm?

quick twists on the throttle had a tiny hesitation at first but once she had ran about a minute maybe two she cleared up and absolutely revved and sounded better than she ever has, smooth fast revs that actually matched throttle input.

It absolutely was trying to rock the bike on its center stand.
I can only hope that this unbelievably clean and easy setup trend continues once I get a good heavy uphill in 3rd load on it, I feel sure the fuel screws will need tweaked once I can get the motor to true operating temp. I am sure renting a manometer (sp) and doing a true sync of the carbs would help as well.

I do have a question though, should the slides pulsate with the engine cycle or should they be steady ( this was happening from around 2-6K rpm during partial throttle free revving)

Only mods from stock is K&N air filter, +1 main jets, and a thin shim under each needle. Currently at 2 turns out on fuel as a base setting....might need to go to 2.5 to start based on partially warm off idle hesitation that went away as soon as the cylinders started heating up.

    Yes, slides normally pulsate.

Read the installation and tuning instructions that are provided by K&N/Dynojet with their jetkits and Factory Pro too, probably available online.

Good job cleaning those carbs, but you may not really need the larger mains.

Idle mix screws will be more accurately set if you follow the "idle drop" procedure outlined in the service manual.
