Well, today I finally completed all the maintenance I was doing on this bike, and it was actually nice enough weather that I could take a quick ride up the road. This was my first ride on this bike that I bought around a month ago or so.. It's been primarily the weather that has kept me from riding it, not the work I been doing on the bike.
All I can say is "very nice". Thing is glass smooth, and goes completely seamlessly from gear to gear. Seems to have, upon my first impression, more torque at lower RPM than my 2007 VTEC bike did. And one thing it DEFINITELY has is much smoother transition from off throttle to on throttle at low RPM's. The 07 would lurch and jump, and sometimes unexpectedly cause me surprise, but this one is nice and smooth in those situations.
And zoom-zoom, if you're reading this, my initial reaction is that the heli bars are too upright for me.
So it's been a good day....very happy with this purchase :)

Just got back from my first ride of the season. The temp was hovering around 0 Celsius. we stopped for a coffee at a Tim Hortons and got the evil eye from a table of guys wearing Harley jackets..... ours were the only bikes in the parking lot. Had a great time.
I'm glad that your ride was good, it's smooth sailing now.

    Hey Zombie

Nothing better than the first ride of the season, especially if you get to ride to Timmies. My son and I enjoyed our first ride of the season to Timmies as well my son decided on a hot chocolate while I splurged (I had a Roll up the rim to Win freebie) for a Timmies Mocha. I think from now on however I shall leave the specialty coffee purchases to the Baristas at Starbucks, as IMHO their specialty coffee offerings are WAY better.

    Hey 2007VFR

The thing I like most about my 5th gen is that the throttle is so smooth and the power delivery is very linear. I have heard some people mention a flat spot in the power delivery between 3 and 5000 RPM but personally I have never noticed such a problem. This could be due to elevation or some other factor but I just love my bike and would have a hard time getting rid of the old girl. Not to mention my son would kill me and as I'm sure other parents would agree, the last thing you want to do to a 6 year old is get rid of their favorite toy. Nothing but grief would accompany such a decision and besides, Who am I to argue?? LOL

Oh and by the way 2007, sorry to hear the heli-bars are not quite up to your liking...... LOL. May your weekend be full of many more enjoyable miles. I think I may pack up the wife and kids and head out on the water. My friend Pete and I own a 32ft C&C sailboat that we moor on the local lake and the water and weather today would make for an enjoyable sail. Not to mention we could BBQ some fresh Salmon steaks and have a good meal on the water, and the fresh air always makes the kids sleepy. This allows the wife and I a little more quality time. Ha ha. Alas though, it usually means cleaning the guinea pigs cage and cleaning the fish tank. LOL
