My son has never been on the back of a motorcycle, so when he asked me if he could go on the back, I couldn't say no. Whilst his mother had some trepidation, I kitted him out, gave him a good pre-ride brief, and off we went. Took him for a leisurely ride on Skyline Road out of northwest Portland, working my way across St. John's Bridge for a coffee break at 2-Stroke Coffee, and back home again. He was a little nervous at first, and I could feel him getting tense during the first few turns through the curves, but apart from a good dose of helmet hair, unlike me who has next to nothing in that department, he had a great time. He was certainly impressed regarding the acceleration of the bike compared to his car, and desires another ride in the future.

Nice man. I did the same with my boy and he loved riding. He's a lot younger than yours but I'm sure the feeling was the same.

I offered similar to my son. Actually offered to let him use my bike and get his licence. Even use the bike to commute to school when I was not using it. The answer was a resounding, "Not a chance!" I guess he does not share my enthusiasm about riding. But my daughter did go for a ride with me once. She is a little more adventurous I guess.

Good for you an your boy. Quality father and son time. Bet you were proud to take him to your favorite Cuppa joe joint on your bike.
