I'm a proud owner of an '08 I picked up with just 2k miles on it. Its my first VFR and lovin it .That v4 feels electric. Any way my question is I have one tool bag with the chain adjustment tool and handle. Is there another full tool bag I'm missing that belongs on the other side.

Hello and welcome Mr David! This is the official VFRW welcome.... :ass::ass::ass:

    Wherebouts you located?

I have a 5th gen, and it comes with a full tool kit, however, from what I have seen and heard from 6th gen owners....that is all that your so-called toolkit consists of. If I am wrong, well, I will have benjammer flog this llama :llama:

Nope, that's all you get on the later models. My '07 is the same way.

Welcome to the Land of Oz...er VFR. This is what I got with my 06. If you have less, I would be inclined to go back to the dealer and ask where the rest of the tools are.

I did. According to them Honda changed their idea of what a toolkit should be sometime in 2007.

I've got an '06 and I've got the same lame tool kit. I wonder if it's a Canadian thing with the complete sets and the US models just didn't get them at all.

According to the parts microfiche, you are still supposed to get a full tool kit in '08.
Ronayers.com Fiche Desktop Motorcycle Honda 2008 VFR800 TOOLS

For anyone who bought new from a dealer, I would be asking about this. At least in the states, for Canada, I would look at a canadian dealer's microfiche. I would think it would be the same, but who knows...

I have seen several members bikes (pre 2007) and they only have the chain adjustment tool pretty much. That is a lame tool kit.

Maybe Honda was cutting cost, or the line workers were pissed off about something?

thanks ,guys . Looks like the bikes that did come with a tool bag did not include a lug wrench for the rear wheel.

Forgot to mention ... I got a "Customer Satisfaction Survey" from Honda (or maybe the dealer, I can't remember now) several months after I bought my bike. In the "Other Comments" section I wrote in great big letters, "The tool kit is an absolute JOKE!" Maybe they listened and went back to the way things were for 2008 ;)

Welcome aboard, dave. Sorry about the lame tool kit. I know some owners have ordered the 5th gen tool kit(98-01) and put that on the bike.

Tool kits??? You guys got tool kits with your VFR's??? And a toolbag??? You lucky dogs! When I bought mine brand new in Chicago in '03,I got no tools,no toolbag,no owners manual, and no left sidecover(the mechanic removed it to charge up the battery before I left). I didn't even notice until I got home. I called the dealer the next day, they said they'd mail me the sidecover. Two weeks later when it didn't arrive,I called them back. They told me if I'd really wanted the sidecover,I should've drove the 95 miles back and got it myself. And as far as the tool kit was concerned, they weren't liable,I should've checked before I drove off their lot. How's that for Service With A Smile!!!

It amazes me that Honda would differ from one country to the next. They all come out of Japan. I can see different operating equipment such as brakes and the such as these are governed by different regulations but a tool kit for Chrissake. It is not that they are Mac tools or anything like that. They are cheap tools to get by in a pinch. If Honda is leaving these tools out as a cost savings (like maybe $10.00), we should lobby to get them to give themselves a severe kick in the ass and provide us, their customers, satisfaction. As far as the Customer Satisfaction Survey, I would be surprised if anyone actually read those.

I also have just the one wrench. Maybe the USA bikes are more reliable, or Honda thinks that we all call AAA when something breaks.

My '04 came with tool kit shown above, and the lug wrench as well. Not that I have ever used any of the included tools, not that I can remember anyway.
