    Hello all,
New to this forum just wanted to share my project which I hope to wrap up soon.

Here is a pic of the bike soon after I picked her up for 1500

    gallery_4936_530_65875.jpg

After about 2 years of riding her she was do for a freshen up, well that turned into a few year project. Ive tried to do tasteful mods without going overboard. Started with the front end.

New neck bearings, legs blasted and painted black, custom rate sonic springs, wheel blasted and powder coated black.

Moved on from there to the masters blasted, painted black, rebuilt, and sight glass repair. New grips and bar ends, speedo bezel and surround painted black (Why were these blue to begin with?) Seat re wrapped in black (also originally blue?)

New barnett clutch and steels, and all new braided lines with bronze ends for the caliper side and black ends for the master side (clutch line both ends black).

New rear shock, rear wheel powder coated along with brake stay and bracket and a few other tid bits. Aluminum rear sprocket and new x ring gold chain.

Here are a few pics from the build enjoy

    Sweet!!!

Always nice to see one of these old beauties restored to it's former glory.

Keep a very close eye on that rear sprocket Jwats,I was able to completely destroy an untreated Renthal Aluminum rear sprocket on my Ducati 900ss in less than 2500 miles. The thing was shark-toothed badly.
A better choice for an Aluminum rear sprocket would be a Vortex Black PTFE Hard Coated one. I've got one on my RC51 that currently has a little over 9000 miles on it and it's still holding up pretty well.

Nice job so far my friend, keep up the good work!

    BTW-Welcome aboard! :welcome:

Thanks stoshmonster, I was actually going to get it hard anodized black but I didn't. I guess I still could. I actually ordered the sprocket from sprocket specialties since I could not find one elsewhere with the number of teeth that I wanted.

crustyrider, the sight glass thing I found here which involved replacing the old nasty yellow plastic lenses with new precut watch glass lenses. It is a small detail but made a huge difference. After the masters were painted the original sight glasses was hideous.

A few things to add, I am looking at HID kits and would like to buy one of the new Bi xenon kits. They come with 2 of everything so I am hoping to find another member who would be interested in picking up the other setup. Also I had bought a yoshi pipe off ebay it will not work for my setup so I would like to get rid of it.

stoshmonster, just checked that out, wish I wouldve known bout that cause I did want the 520 conversion originally. I however have already bought the chain and sprocket but thank you for the info.

crustyrider, I actually have 3 extra lenses, I bought them from here
    www.toolsqs.com/cart/browse.asp?subcat=258
The correct size is 17.9mm. I bought extra in case I broke something but this was not the case. You are more than welcome to buy them from me if you wish.

mikethebikeuk, Well mine is an 87 from all that I read all exhausts fit the 700/750 86 to 87. Also you fellows from across the pond have one advantage you can easily buy a new laser exhaust system over here the shipping is too much.

Well the vasoline was for the hand controls, the ones on the bike were old and lost there color. I read If you leave vasoline on them for a day or so they come right back to there former glory. Here is a before and after pic quite astonishing.

This trick works on all kinds of dried out plastics. The only problem is that they still dry out quickly so you may need to re-apply several times a season depending on your climate.
