    Hello,
I just did my first oil/oil filter change on my 2007 VFR800A ABS. Here is a picture of the sight glass. The engine is cold and it is on the service stand (level). I need to know if I should let a little oil out or if I am okay. It is right on the upper line.

Looks like a perfect fill. Hope you did not use a K&N oil filter.

Been there, done that...didn't get the t-shirt, but I did get a 200 mile tow and almost took a dirt nap. The guy I bought the bike from used a K&N oil filter and here was the result..

P.S. I just spent 3 hours today trying to get all the oil off my bike.

Between the lines it says. At the top is there. I wouln't try to always get the level right there though. SO long as the level reaches somewhere between those points you are good to go.

If you happen to overfill, I jerry rigged a turkey baster with a length of surgical tubing on the end to withdraw as needed to bring the level between the lines. Also remember that if you photo is showing the level before you start the bike and circulating the oil, that level may drop. Recheck after the bike has sat for a minute or two and add if need be. The new filter will draw some of the oil in and reduce the site glass.

I added the oil and then ran it for 3 minutes. I then let it sit until it cooled down and that was the result. I was aiming for about half way between the lines but messed up, hence the post because I didn't know if the top of the line was pushing it. Thanks for the thoughtful response.
