Just finished my install and first ride with my new brakelight modulator.

    Very simple install, works great.

I had to splice the wires from the two lights into the single modulator wire and then had to install a short piece of wire so the quick clips would fit back into their sockets on the brakelight. Next time better planning.

Multimeter, Clymer manual, one splice connector to get into the ground wire and a handful of butt connectors made the whole thing rather simple.

I will use the yellow wire to set up the switched 'hazard' flashers later on.
The white wire with red stripes is the first config mode, chose not to use that one.

Shot of the butt connectors from the Module to the brake light connectors. That green wire way down by the bolt head is the small piece of wire I had to install to let the brake light connectors reach. Shoulda planned that part better, but this is my first mod and I learned a lot.

Better shot of the extension wire (green with red butt connector to brake light connector). The black wire is the module's ground and is spliced into the brake light ground so I didn't have to find another frame ground. I double crimped a butt connector on the white wire/red stripe as a reminder that this is the first setting on the modulator. I choose setting 2.

Looking straight back and down into the aft portion of the bike. Brake light connectors are the two black blocks with white connectors in the top third of the pic.
Blue splice connector brings the module's ground wire into the brake light's ground wire.
Red wire is switched power to brake light circuit with blue butt connector.
Red wire with white stripe is the second setting on the modulator (5 flashes, solid on), also with blue butt connector.
Yellow wire has single crimped butt connector so I can connect a switch and make 'hazard' flashers at a later time. Didn't have a single pole switch today.
Back off module attached with included double sided adhesive onto the angles forward portion of the well.

What are the thoughts on my install? I know it's not as pretty as it could be, but I think it went very well and now I won't hesitate to do more.

I'd like to thank the folks on this forum for posting accurate photos and solid advice. Gives a noob like me confidence to attempt this. I felt like this was a bit of pay it forward.

There are places (states) where modulators are not legal. In places (states) where they are not legal there is usually a reciprocity agreement with the state the bike is registered. Many LEO's are unaware of this.

A partner of mine got rousted by a small towner here in Oregon. My partner lives in Washington. It took this small town cop about an hour to check it out. Before the question of what was my partiner doing to get stopped comes a calling, he was already stopped and getting gas.

    Dudes ain't all CHP.
