Hopefully someone can help, have a home in Herriman UT and need my staircase rebuilt---- long story. But if anyone knows of a company or has a friend please let me know. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is it just a standard staircase? If so, the treads and risers would be easy. That info is readily available on the net. As far as the railings and spindles go, you can get just about any kind and shape of both at most decent lumber yards. I would help you out personally if you were closer by.
If you have any additional questions you can always drop me a call. but like Randy mentioned it's pretty cut and dry, goggle is your friend. I get it that your in Ca. and it's in Ut. so yea there's that too. unfortunately I have no connections there.
Thanks Randy and Jmon, ya need a professional to handle this--- seems there's just half ass asshats in UT that say there carpenters but there full of it. Even companies from HomeAdvisor which are supposed to be screened with the BBB. Hopefully someone out there can help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Best bet in that part of the country is to find a "carpenter" that doesn't ski. Check with a local architect for references maybe one that rides..
Herriman is large enough a place that I am sure there are higher end homes being built in the area. Go to one under construction and seek out the General Contractor. He should be able to supply you with the name of a competent finish carpenter who can help you out. Keep in mind, if you go to a mansion, you will likely croak at the cost of what their trades may charge. Check out references and see product they have finished.
If I lived there it would be a lot easier--- this guy I hired two weeks ago checked out great with BBB, left a message yesterday because he said pictures before, during and after. He responds last night, sorry but can't do your job I'm an HR away and to busy WTF SMH at these idiots that think there professionals. I gave him a piece of my mind and then some. It always starts snowing towards the end of Oct so now I'm f*cked Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oh man I feel for you, nothing like flaky contractors, just count your blessing it happened first rather than later. hang in there.
If it's relatively simple a handyman type might could do it. But is not likely to be more reliable than an actual carpenter. Not being there makes it tough.
It did happen first and now need my stairs rebuilt to 7/11 and 3/4 plywood layed down and carpet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think you need to report this guy to the BBB. I would not expect for them to get this guy to do the work for you now nor would I want that anyway. However. He has a good rating with BBB until someone tells BBB something in the contrary. That if you. Wished I were there to take care of it for you.
Thanks Randy, I to wish you were there. Already reported him and the guy before-- plus I'm sewing the first guy and HomeAdvisor is going to court for me as well since they referred him. Found out that him an his partner go by two different company names that Advisor didn't know about Can you say Egg on there faces-- plus now BBB has both names. What a mess--- oh well live and learn or get screwed --- pick Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You could have gotten Bob Villa. Then again, he got sued over a reno of a beach front place in Malibu he had on his show Home Again many years ago. Apparently a lot of the new technology put into that house failed badly.
Bob Villa's greatest achievements were to triple the price of any job he took on. IOW the SOB never brought any job to conclusion on the money. Probably has a Harley dealership too. I sure hope the BBB in Canada has better ethics than the US version. Here "members" can buy their way out of shitty ratings.
Some pix of what needs "rebuilt" might be good. Difficult to determine what needs to be done from the term "rebuilt". Mentioned is carpet.. Carpet installers do this type work. Any contractor you have in a place when you're not there should be fully licensed, bonded and insured. But not Bob Villa....
Whoa my my. Not that you would after all this. Angie's list is not any better. It's shitty that business morals and ethics have gone the way side. smh.
Is that the house that Villa wanted to equip with a bank of 5 200 hp Evinrudes before the next high tide?
Al;l I remember is that the garage door was right on the 101 and the house sitting on piers over the water at high tide.
