I went to the local BMV & Titled my bike today, & while I was there I picked up a motorcycle handbook.
I went to my car & read the booklet, & decided to give the written exam a go, & walked out with my Learners Permit! :tongue2:
2 more weeks, & my Insurance Agent is suppose to have cycle insurance available, Then I can get tags, & be-able to really ride my Bike! :ride:

a structured class is well worth the money. I'd strongly encourage you to sign up for a beginning rider course. Guarantee you'll learn something and it could save your life.

Ride safe and welcome to two wheels

ABATE does a good program here. They are all based on the same syllabus.

The class will start dreadfully basic, but if you bide your time, you will learn a thing or two before it's over.

That's Awesome. But I have to say, I'm more impressed on the quickness you were in and out of the DMV! We have to wait centuries here in CA. When I had to renew my DL, I went online to schedule an appointment (it's the quickest way to get in and out of the DMV) and almost every DMV within a 50 mile radius of me was booked up. The soonest they had an opening was like 4 weeks! I finally called a small suburb office and finagled an appointment for the next day, and even then I spent at least half my day waiting for number to be called.

Anyway, congratulations on getting your permit and getting signed up for the class. Ride safe and have fun.

    Cheers!

Congrats APITTSLIFE! You now officially have a permit to be invovled with a lifelong mistress. The more you ride, the more you want to ride. I think my girlfriend might be jealous of all the time I spend on my bikes. She's always accusing me of neglecting her and spending my 'time polishing the NINJA' or 'waxing the viffer'.

Oh well, ride safe and a definite yes on the rider's courses!

I have ridden before, "Just Not Legally". Didn't do to well the first tyme round, Did rather well with dirt bikes Thou, Go figure?
It's the closest I will ever get to Flying!
I have a female cousin that use to ride a Ninja back in the early 90's, & that is how she met her husband. She was pretty fearless, & would go deep into the corners before braking. That Impressed the hell out of him & she was, & still is a Looker! They still own bikes & ride, Now that she is a Mom she doesn't ride as aggressive as she did. Get your Girl a bike, or get her to help out with the Detailing of yours, so you finish quicker, & have more tyme to spend with her!

A powerful bike in the wrong hands is a recipe for disaster. In the UK we used to be limited to 250cc before we had passed a test. Now it is based on HP after the Japanese got wise and started producing 250's that were almost supersonic, too many have died as a consequence.
We too have rider schemes, I did one myself back in 1980 and still wear the badge with pride, it hasn't stopped me having minor accidents but I am still alive and love being on a bike.

    Hello TSG

Here in Indiana, you can take your Test on a scooter & then go ride 1000+ superbike!

When I was Living in Wisconsin, they had a tier system, under 500cc - under 1000cc - above 1000cc. what ever bike you used to take your test on you were limited to that tier & lower, until you took a test on a larger cc bike. Not sure if it is that way anymore?
I think the tier system is a good thing!

    Take it all in!

I rode with a new rider (close friend) today and I was extra nervous knowing he has not had any training. Seeing him on the interstate made me feel like watching a toddler jump in a swimming pool for the first time.

Sounds like you got the right idea!

Welcome to the riding. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
