After having many different bikes in the course of a fairly short life of motorcycling I finally got a vfr. Its a 98 that has been painted yellow.......unfortunately. I got what I feel like was a great deal and it has the must do stuff already on it. It has a TBR high pipe, power commander, sargent saddle, genmar risers and a ZG double bubble screen. It is also pretty low miles at 20k. I started riding in 2003 when I bought a 2002 r6. It was my first MC and it was a handful to say the least. I had never ridden before but I did grow up on four wheelers and three wheelers. I had the understanding of how things worked so I wasn't horrible. I bought the r6 in April of 03 and my girl friend at the time bought me a track day for my birthday in August. I did the track day and her dad told me I should come race with him. I ended up trading the r6 for a left over new 02 SV650S. I was way more comfortable on that bike and was 6 seconds a lap faster at the next track day at little tally. Fast forward a few months and I picked up a ex500 to race Clubman on with WERA. Halfway through the season I switched to a SV and went expert at the end of the year. The next season I built a r6 to race in the sprints and raced a SV in the endurance class. I still had my pristine 02 SV for a street bike and kept it until 2006. I got a little cocky on the road one night and ended up spending the night in jail. I sold the sv pretty soon after that and went to dirt. I raced enduros and harescrambles for a couple years before selling the dirtbikes off. Fast forward to 2011... I picked up another SV in October and fixed it over the winter. I sold it a couple days ago and found my vfr. That was my plan the whole time and it worked out great. I made 2.5x off my SV and that gave me enough cash to get the vfr. My grandfather has a 98 and my father in law had a 97 that I rode frequently back in the day as he always seemed to hop on my r6 or sv when he got the chance. I have wanted a vfr since 2003 when I rode his 97 for the first time. They are such great bikes and I can't wait to put some miles on mine. Here are a couple pics I have of it so far. It was horribly dirty when I got it. The guy had a gravel drive way and it showed.. Its pretty clean now but I figure I have another couple thorough cleanings to get it up to my standards.

Just got back to my grandfathers with it.

He turned 80 this past January. It's priceless to see peoples faces when he pulls up and takes off his helmet. He has been riding for over 60 years. He started out on a Cushman scooter. He has his eye set on a new BMW now. The vfr is getting a little too aggressive for him even with the bar risers. He is actually my wifes grandad but both of my blood grandfathers have passed and I dated his grand daughter for 12 years before I married her so I don't know life without him any more. His bike is the cleanest bike I have ever seen. It only has 12,800 miles. I striped his wheels for him this past weekend while I was there but he still likes my silver ones better. We are going to swap wheels sometime this week. I like the black ones better anyway. I think he was more excited about my vfr than I was. I live in the ATL area dn he lives in Chattanooga. I found the bike up his way so the wife and I went up this past Saturday to have lunch with them and then GF and I went and got the vfr. He used to come to the race track with his son and I. He was the crew chief. Changing tires and keeping our helmets clean and everything in order. Those were some great days.

One more thing.. I need tires really bad for it. This is my first sport tourer so I am not up to date with the best tires. Im thinking the BT023 but a part of me really wants to stick with the michelin Pilots. I have had Michelin Pilots on every street bike so Im a little partial.

    Nice looking bike! :welcome:

I have been running the Pilot Road 2's and really like them. I needed a new front so I got a set of Road 3's. The rear Road 2 still has some miles on it so I haven't swapped that yet.

I don't think you can out ride a Road 2 or 3 on the street. They stick really well so don't be afraid of them.

Very cool all the way around.

Pilot Powers are good and sticky, but you'll go through them in about 3000 miles.
Pilot Roads have several different compounds now so check them out. I have the 2CT on now. Not quite as sticky as I'd like, but I plan to get about 10K out of them.

Great looking bike! I love the Dunlop Q2 I just put on the front of mine and will probably put on a Roadsmart rear, when the Diablo wears out.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for all the replies. I am going with the Road 2. I found a great deal on them at a local shop. They beat the internet guys and everyone else local. Anyone looking for tires in the metro atl area should give Ken's motorcycle tires a call. My father in law and grandad have been buying from him for a long time and he is a great guy.
