I would like to introduce myself to everyone. I've been riding on the street for over 30 years. I've always been a Honda guy (OK there was one Bultaco, but that wasn't a street bike so it doesn't count). My last bike was a SuperHawk, which I bought new in 2000 and rode for 35k trouble-free miles. When I bought it, I had looked at the VFR, in fact, it was pretty much a flip of a coin that made me go with the SuperHawk. Looking back, I don't regret that decision one bit, it was a great machine for short (20-30 mile) commutes and blasting around on the back roads. Anyway, I wanted something with longer legs. The VFR came to mind, naturally, and my first search of Ebay turned up an 04 from a seller not 10 minutes from my house. Well, I got a look at the bike, was high bidder, etc., and brought it home on Friday. I took a short toot yesterday, but today I went for a 220 ride over the Delaware Memorial Bridge into southern New Jersey to a friend's house. NICE!!! There were a few good passing opportunities on some straight stretches of the mostly 2 lane roads I was on and I got to open it up a bit. What a fine machine. I love the intake honk. It's definitely a much more refined than the Hawk, not to say that it didn't have its redeeming attributes (e.g., oodles of torque). Honda does it again, what can I say? The bike came with hard bags mounted, and a PCIII with O2 eliminators already set up. Otherwise stock, with 3400 miles on the clock and clean as a whistle. The seller took very good care of it. There's also a couple of years left on an extended warranty. I think got a good deal at $6750. I really like the color (red). I'm using it as a commuter as well as a weekend sport tourer. I plan to get many happy miles out of it. Thanks for listening, hope to talk to many of you in the future. One happy camper, Rod
welcome rod. glad to have you here. that sounds like a decent deal to me although I really haven't priced the new ones, but yours sounds hardly used at all... enjoy vfrworld...
