The other day after washing my 2002 and a good highway run to see if a cleaner bike is faster ( it is, by the way). My FI light came on when I started it later in the evening. The manual suggests that a solid light is probably a bad connection (I haven't checked yet). The bike seems to be starting and running fine, will the light eventually go out and just stay in the memory? I do plan on doing so e troubleshooting when I get the chance, I just wondered if it would go out after a certain number of cycles if it hasn't been re triggered.

Thanks for that link. Now I just have to get to my laptop to find out what a code 23 is.

I think code 23 is a faulty O2 sensor. If you just washed the bike then probably water/corrosion in the connector to the sensor since they are on the bottom of the bike.

It's probably the connector then as I have the bypass resisters hooked up for the power commander system, it's also the first time its gotten wet since I got it last fall!

When I soldered in the resistors as described, I waterproofed them to prevent the exact problems mentioned in this thread.

When you get in there, use copious amounts of dielectric to help prevent the problem in the future...and then consider wrapping the connector in plastic or taping it up thoroughly.

An ounce of prevention = a pound of cure.

I actually was planning on checking a lot of the wiring after seeing some of the previous owners wiring work. I already had to completely remove the alarm system and I have to clean up some of the wiring to the battery before taking it into the dealer for the wiring recall that was never done on it. Good call on waterproofing the resisters. Thanks for the input guys.
