Edit: just read that it's normal as there is only a left side fan... New question: is 235 degrees Fahrenheit a normal operating temp?

    -------------------------------------------------

I parked the bike on the side stand after a long ride and hit the kill switch but left the key on to let the bike cool down (a habit I've gotten into whenever I can).

A few minutes later i noticed that the left side radiator vent had a decent breeze from the fan and the air felt cool- but the right side had virtually no air movement and what was coming through felt pretty hot.

I also noted air coming more strongly from the right front turn signal area of the fairing while the left side there was none.

I'm guessing this isn't normal? Any ideas?

There is only a fan on the left side. Fan typically comes on around 225ish degrees.

How hot was it and were you sitting still a lot? Mine got up around 240 in a traffic jam in DC. I got roasted but the bike did not hiccup.

It's too bad Honda didn't put a fan on both sides. Or, better yet, just put the radiator in the normal position across the front. My bike got up to about 252, temp guage was flashing, but I was on the freeway and had no place to pull over or exit, due to construction. Did the best I could and pulled over when I could. Called my mechanic who recommended I get a VFR and asked him if I had hurt it. He said, "Nope, it's a Honda. Check your coolant and ride on." Never a problem since.

Yup I bought my VFR on the advice of a mechanic too. I don't worry too much because it is a Honda- but thought I saw temp gage hitting 235. I could be wrong and will report back. Kinda get to not worrying about it.
Now my old BMW 5 series car... That was a different story. Ignore one little hiccup and boy you paid through the nose for your "negligence".

I actually have a RH side fan. It's a small AL bodied 12V PC style that I mounted to the forward 1/2 of the RH radiator. It comes on when I use my fan over-ride switch. When I notice my temp. running above 210, I throw the switch and effectively have 1-1/2 fans running  ... this has been working for the past year or so now.

I've seen 238 - 240 on my VFR, but only during the one day I ran her at the track. I was not paying any attention to the over-ride switch that day  ... on very hot days with both fans running, she'll still get up over 220 ...
