 I have been doing light repairs and mods to bikes for a few years now. Mostly bady and paint but will fabricate some stuff and light mechanical if I want to do it for a friend. I have had guys I know recently that have or want me to add to their bikes "1000"cc marking on the body.:noidea: All the bikes in question so far have been 900 series Hondas. I know it's their bike & money but seriously!:lie: Is this a new FAD or something? Did I miss a memo? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over?

So under the "1000" cc that you paint on, can you put "poser"? Tell them that's your signature that you do on all custom paint work.

Hmmm...... That's a good question VFRHubby. Then again I suppose you could make a strong case that those of us guys and gals who are riding the 5th and 6th gen. bikes are actually riding "Fake 800's" because the actual calculated engine displacement is only 781cc's.

I could see adding a 1000cc marking onto the fairings if the owner actually punched the engine out to that displacement.
Otherwise no. I mean who are they trying to fool?

Hell, I could see putting SMALLER displacement marking on it... take your "fake" 600 out and race for who pays the bar tab.

If they were Hondas Superbikes eg 954 FireBlades I might chuckle quietly at their insecurity but they are liter class motorcycles pitched against the GSXR1000 & R1 so it wouldn't bother me at all.

That seems really strange to me, husband. It's not like the 900, 929, 954 aren't distinctive. Most Honda guys (and not-Honda guys) I know can spot them right away.

Sounds like the plastic none functional hood scoops folks add to their cages. or *exactly* like the late seventies when people added "TURBO" stickers to everything. There was even a Turbo malt liquor if memory serves.

All Great points. Ok, Like John said, they are liter "class", so I will give them that. The fact that I got 2 of them in my shop and 1 is a 99 CBR900RR & 1 03 CBR954 and they BOTH LOOK LIKE WHAT THEY ARE.... I they want the badges, they can have em. Dead is right, I'm sure guys like us will be happy to piont this out to them.

another disturbing trend on a local forum (dcsportbikes.net) is folks that apply NESBA (track riding org) tech inspection stickers to their bikes for street cred. Showing you ride on the track evidently helps with the hawts. Also, folks are running track numbers on the street w/o mirrors or lights... lame

    ^^^^

Thanks for posting that one up beta. I was going to but you beat me to it.

When betarace sent me that link, I was dumbfounded. Wanting to buy, that's right spend money, on NESBA stickers. I pull my B sticker off at the end of the day usually, but if someone ever apprached me to buy it I would not sell it to them on general principal.

This hobby has WAY too many people concernd about image and not skill development.

Hey Husband, ingure why these morons want to re-label their bikes, then please point out that serious motorcyclists think they are losers.

When I took a 21hr motorcycle course... they started off the first day by stating that "80% of motorcycling is looking good"... They were being cheeky of course... but part of me got the impression there was some sincerity under those layers of cheekiness.
I on the other hand couldn't agree more with that statement :vtr2:

Just think. If all this BS were to be legislated, it would add another sticker to all bikes.

Other graphics are yet another possibiity.

    "My rings are .005 over".
    "I'm bored".
    "I'm stroked".
    "I'm bored and stroked".
I''m bored and stroked and have oversize rings".
    "Does honing count"?
" My displacement is bigger than your displacement".
"I ride a Harley and we don't do that faggy metric shit."

I know of a BMW owner who has a 525i sedan with a huge turbo in it that puts out 400hp. He has a 518i tag on the car!

I also hear of some Benz owners who change the tags on their wives cars to show that it is top of the line, ie S550, when in fact it is a S430 or something, b/c it's a status quo thing for the wealthy and keeping up with the jones' is a competition. Of course the wives dont know what the fuck S550 or S430 means anyway.

i've smoked quita a few 600's on my ZRX1200, cause most squids think my bike is just an old "standard" (with an old man riding it! LOL). They have a ZRX400 in Japan and I've always wanted to rebadge mine that way, just for the beaten squids sake.
Years ago I had a Kawasaki S3 400 triple. Many of my bud's rode Moto Guzzi's, and I would go with them to the Guzzi rallies. My S3 was ported, polished, K&N pods, and Denco chambers, ran really well and was wicked fast to maybe 110mph. One day I was riding with a group on MG Lemans 850's. We were on a straight road, and the two Lemans riders in front of me, tucked in and grabbed a big handful of throttle. Sitting straight up, I pinned mine and just blew past both of them. Several miles later, at a stop sign, I was waiting for them to catch up, 1st guy there says "man thats a fast 750!" I say, "it's not a 750". He say's "then thats a fast 500!", I say "it's a 400". That guy still tells that story at the Guzzi rallies. LMFAO
