Fairing troubles

Hi everyone.

Just bought my self a '83 vf750f, and this is my first post.

The bike I bought has a cracked strut on the fairing bracket. I would rather replace it than have it welded. I've found one for sale off a '84 vf500. The body looks the same, the bracket looks the same, but I'm wondering if in fact they are the same(being diff. year and all).

As to the fairing , The scarcities of the plastic parts will drive you nuts.
Time to learn how to fix the trouble. If you look in the 1st gen help, there are some companies that do plastic welding. One is in Oshawa, Ontario goggle it as plastic welding Oshawa. Hope this helps as they fix race damage fairings. Mike R.. Calgary formally of Oshawa.. :VFR1200F:

 

I know the plastic can be hard to find, mine are actually in really good shape.

The part I'm specifically wondering about is the metal sub-frame/stays under the plastic. I can get one form a vf500, but I'm not sure if they are the same part.

 

Don't have one I have a VF1000
