Thought you might like to know about an accessory I've just fitted.

Ordered a Transmission Detent Spring Kit for my VFR750, which is basically a spring and a gasket (and a rather optomistic title).

Anyways, it replaces one of the springs in the gearshift mechanism - the kit verison is significantly more substantial than the original spring it replaces. Fitting it wasn't quite as straightforward as the guide suggests, although the bits that needed removing to get into the main mechanism clearly hadn't been remover from the bike since it left the factory.

As far as operation goes, it pretty much does what it claims. It makes the shift faster and seemingly more accurate. The mechanism clicks out of one gear into the next (up and down through the range) very sweetly.

If you can get hold of one and can be bothered to put the effort in, I'd say it's worth it. But it won't sort out any false neutrals you've got - I've got one between fifth and sixth that I can't shift (if you'll pardon the pun), although the new spring does make it less noticeable.

Now I've gotta work out how to fit one of their Drop In Carb Kits without screwing up the fuelling. Looks like a trip to a dyno is on the cards.

    Neil

I have said kit for the 4th Gens, but haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting for their Shift Stars to be finished. I called them about a month ago, and they were projecting around the beginning of May. They needed to get a few more tools for theit CNC machine to complete the stars. I waited just because I didn't want to take all of that part of my bike apart twice. Hopefully I'll order one here shortly and see if it was worth it. I've been lazy lately and haven't been fully engaging 2nd gear all the way. I know the cause, and the cure, just have to be more disciplined with preloading the shifter.
