I have purchased many new bikes (Dirt and Street) over the years and every time the chain is adjusted with little to no slack at the tightest point. Maybe I'm too picky but has anyone else noticed this? Does the factory set the chain adjustment or does the dealer do it when they uncrate the machines?

Never noticed it myself. But then again I've never owned a brand new bike from the factory.

I do tend to run my chains on the slightly loose side.

Minimal effort is put into assembling a bike straight out of the crate....always done by the lowest man on the totem pole. The first thing I do is tear them down and make sure everything is greased and torqued to spec. It's basically up to the owner to verify if it's right.

Yeah, like Jeff_Barrett, I side on a looser chain tension. And as NorcalBoy noted, I do the same thing in regards to going over a new bike, thus the finding of, what I believe, is a chain that is not adjusted correctly.

It drives me nuts that the factories put motorcycles together, bone dry. Bare metal needs oil!

Ya know with all the bikes I've bought new one of the first things I check is tire pressure and chain tension, SMH though, I don't recall just what was what with any of the new bikes, now used , LOL yea well, it's crazy what you find.

Yeah, forgot to add the tire PSI was well over by 10psi on both front and back -- WTH is up with that? Is it really that difficult to set the correct tire PSI? Jesus christ....
