F1 light blinks twice then a gap continouly

Hello there,

I have a 2005 vfr 800 v tec bike, i turn the ignition follow by the run burton and i notice the F1 light remains on for longer than normal followed by two blinks a gap then two blinks then a gap then two blinks, this goes on for a long time.how much blinks i must consider to use as a code? what do you think is the problem?

 

Fuel injection issue..maybe dirty injectors???? better take her in....

my friend used a cheap gas additive(autozone fuel injector cleaner), and then filled her up with premium...after a couple of interstate blasts it seemed to clear it up and my friend did not have any more trouble....also, a dirty air filter could cause this...it is cheaper to run it hard and clean out the air filter than the 79 bucks a hour labor charge...hope this helps...

 

I use a fuel injector cleaner today and I also notice the bottom part of the muffler by the foot stand gets red hot tonight. What could cause this?

 

It's 2 blinks. Have you tried what NorcalBoy and I suggested in your last post?

Sounds like it's running WAAAAAY too lean. I wouldn't run it with the pipes glowing, could melt a piston if too lean and running hot even if the cooling system is able to keep the water temp in check. I think I'd take her in before doing serious engine damage.

 

Today I found out that it was the catalytic convertor that was glowing red hot. What can cause that? What should I replace?
