I just purchased a 2003 VFR Vtec and I love the feel of it although I would like to try and increase the power on the lower rpm range (before that fabulous Vtec kick). Is this possible?, or is it possible to lower the point at which the vtec kicks in? I am new to the VFR and think this is the perfect balance of comfort and sport.
a power commander with a custom tune will add a lot of mid range horse power. and it will also fill in the dip in the vtec transition... this plus a 2 up or 1 down 2 up sprocket kit sounds like what your looking for too...
The power commander with a custom map will be bring back 5 or 6 mid-range HP that went missing due to some shady OEM mapping. If you goto a -1 front sprocket, which I highly recommend, you'll redistribute some power back to the low and mid. No HP gain here, but more umph and a smoother VTEC change over. If that still isn't enough than add a +2 rear. Keep in mind that the lower you gear the bike you'll be loosing increasing amounts of top speed and tach range. Also a speedo healer will be needed with the gearing change due to inaccurate speed ( reads higher than actuall ) and mileage ( higher than actuall ).
